Children from Gyo Phyu village contribute to their family meal by picking watercress from the nearby fields. Six days after Cyclone Nargis stormed through the Irrawaddy delta area that triggered a tidal wave and flood waters up to 10 feet deep that washed away their homes, food supplies are seeiming precarious. Familys have damp rice to eat and receive condensed milk from the Village Chairman. But food prices have escalated already: salt packets jumped from 100 kyat to 500 kyat and villagers are increasingly worried about rice and other food shortages.
