Sichuan is one of the poorer provinces of China with a significant ethnic minority population.

As a UN agency, UNICEF works as a full partner of the Government of China to improve the situation of children; therefore, its interventions are more sustainable, it has access to government agencies and ministries and is a respected international voice for children contributing to lasting change.
