Trip to Napal

Darryl Tse (UNICEF Young Envoy)

When I arrived at Kathmandu International Airport, I saw so many Nepalese children. It was 11:00 Wednesday night; you may wonder why are these children still wandering around late at night?
The answers are:

  1. They are the child labour who work as porters
  2. They can’t afford to go to school

Nepalese children work all day and can only get pay worth a bottle of coke. Because they did not receive any education, they can only engage in hard labour such as quarrying, transporting sand and as porters. For the children in Hong Kong, they are beloved by parents - they don’t have much to worry about their lives. Though the Nepalese children are also innocent and lively, they are forced to leave schools to feed themselves as natural disasters and armed conflicts took their parents away.
