The UNICEF Charity Run 2023 Hosted Runners Calling Ceremony Registration Closing Soon and Calling on Everyone to Run for Every Child!

21/09/2023

HONG KONG, 21 September 2023 – UNICEF Charity Run 2023, the largest charity road race event in Hong Kong, will be held on the 5th of November this year at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Sunny Bay. A Runners Calling Ceremony for the event was held by the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) at Hysan Place in Causeway Bay today. Hosted by Ms. Judy Chen, Chairman of UNICEF HK, Mr. Liu Mingxin, Deputy General Manager of China Cinda (HK) Holdings Company Limited and lead partner of the event, and Ms. Yip Pui Yin, Former Hong Kong Women's Badminton Representative, the ceremony called on enthusiastic runners to join hands with UNICEF HK and contribute to the well-being of every child.

Stepping into its 15th year, UNICEF Charity Run is re-introducing the 15km Run, a unique race from the inaugural UNICEF Run in 2006, to symbolize UNICEF HK’s ongoing commitment to the cause of children. The event also offers 10km Run and 5km Run recognized by the Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates (HKAAA) and 3km Fun Run (Youth / Family) designed for families, catering to a wide range of runners with diverse backgrounds and goals.

UNICEF Charity Run 2023 is dedicated to making United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being a reality for every child, with the proceeds donated to improving children’s health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, and other child rights initiatives worldwide. Ms. Judy Chen, Chairman of UNICEF HK said, “This year, as we celebrate the 15 years of history of this meaningful event, I urge all runners to join us once again in contributing to the well-being of the next generation.” She noted that although the pandemic has passed, its harmful impact on children’s health continues. Therefore, UNICEF HK hopes to advocate for SDG 3 through this year’s Charity Run, encouraging citizens to engage more in physical activities and raising public awareness about children's physical and mental health.

UNICEF Hong Kong Ambassadors, Ms. Charlie Yeung Choi-Nei and Ms. Guo Jingjing, have also taken the initiative to shoot a video for the Runners Calling Ceremony, highlighting the diverse range of races in UNICEF Charity Run 2023 that caters to the needs of all types of runners. They encourage everyone to join the event and make a positive impact on children through running.

Mr. Liu Mingxin, Deputy General Manager of China Cinda (HK) Holdings Company Limited said that the Company is very happy to support the UNICEF Charity Run. This heartwarming event is particularly meaningful, allowing them to promote SDG 3 while forging a brighter future for children in need.

Ms. Yip Pui Yin, Former Hong Kong Women's Badminton Representative supports the mission of UNICEF Charity Run and believes that a moderate level of exercise every day can improve resilience and achieve good physical and mental health. She also calls on everyone to seize the final opportunity to participate in the UNICEF Charity Run, not only for their own health and the well-being of those around them but also to raise funds for children in need.

Don't miss out on this meaningful charitable event! Registration for all race categories will close on October 6th. UNICEF invites all runners to seize this final opportunity and register at the official website (https://run.unicef.org.hk/) now!
