HONG KONG, 2 January 2024 - Globally, over 1 billion children are at extreme risk of severe and destructive climate hazards. On the other hand, UNICEF’s report finds that 1 in 7 young people lives with diagnosed mental health disorder, and an estimated 45,800 adolescents die by suicide each year. In every part of the world, climate crisis and poor mental health causes suffering for children and young people.

UNICEF HK believes it is vital to respond. Through an array of activities in 2024, UNICEF HK will convey the urgency of climate crisis and mental health for our future generation throughout their development from 0-18 years old (i.e. their 7000 days of life).

At COP28, UNICEF was on the ground supporting more than 100 child and youth climate activists and made a bold move in calling on leaders to elevate, embed and include children in climate actions and resilience.

To echo, UNICEF HK’s first mission in 2024 is to call on yours and your children’s participation at the 'Discover, for every child 2024 – Play for a livable planet' event at Noah’s Ark. We believe Noah’s Ark provides a fun-filled learning environment for the exploration of the impact of climate crisis.
