UNICEF x Hong Kong Hotels Association Join hands in launching ‘Change for Children’ Hotel Fundraising Programme

HONG KONG, 5 April 2011 Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (HKCU) and Hong Kong Hotels Association (HKHA) today kicked off the Change for Children Hotel Fundraising Programme. The Programme will be officially launched in mid April, with over 30 HKHA member hotels joining. Fund raised will go to support UNICEF’s field work in China and other developing countries. Mr. Aaron Kwok, HKCU Ambassador was appointed as the spokesman of this special initiative.

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of HKCU, and ‘Change for Children’ Hotel Fundraising Programme aims to provide a platform for visitors to share their generosity and donate the spare changes during their visit in Hong Kong, to support the needy children and women in over 150 developing countries and regions, including Mainland China.

At today’s ceremony, Mr. Kevin Yeung, Chairman of Special Fundraising Committee, HKCU said, “Starting from this mid April, hotel guests can simply put the spare coins into the donation envelopes in the hotel room, and drop it into the donation box at the hotel front desk.”

Mr. Freddie Ho, 2nd Vice Chairman of HKHA expressed that its hotel members have showed their full support to the Programme. As a socially responsible association, HKHA hopes to help children in need through this meaningful Programme with the UNICEF.”

Ms. Judy Chen, Chairman, HKCU added, “The launch of ‘Change for Children’ Hotel Fundraising Progamme, the first and the largest of its kind in Hong Kong, gives a very special meaning to the 25th Anniversary of HKCU.” She continued, “Fund raised from this Progamme will support UNICEF’s on ground services in areas of education, water and sanitation, health and child protection in China and other developing countries.”

  ‘Change for Children’ Hotel Fundraising Programme aims to provide a platform for visitors to share their generosity and donate the spare changes during their visit in Hong Kong, to support the needy children and women in the 150 developing countries and regions, including Mainland China.
