[AWAITING BRAND STRATEGY RELEASE]On 13 October 2016 at the UNICEF child friendly space, 11-year-old Fatima Al loz, a refugee from Syria, plays a traditional drum. She's seated on a bench among other young boys and girls. In the background there is a DJ. Fatima is from Homs, a city in western Syria. Her and Baba Omar are now living in Oumariyeh Informal Settlement, Bekaa, Lebanon. UNICEFÕs child friendly spaces offer a safe and creative space for children to learn and play, often within camps or settlements inhabited by Refugees and Migrants uprooted by conflict. UNICEFÕs initiatives represented here are child protection along with child survival and adolescent development, inclusion, play and out-of-school education.

As part of the UNICEF Brand strategy and re-positioning initiated in 2016, this photograph was taken to showcase children being children, as direct or indirect beneficiaries of UNICEFÕs work around the world.
